Singing a cappella, replete with emotion and energy, and reflecting a deep desire to honor God with their voices, girls and counselors from GEMS Clubs all over Zambia repeated these lyrics over and over again during the four days of Get Connected! Camp in Africa August 13th through the 16th. The purpose of camp was three-fold: to connect girls to critical life truths from God’s Word, to train, equip, and empower Zambian counselors to run Get Connected! Camps for their girls in the future, and to inspire the oldest GEMS to be Truth and Life Connectors (counselors) at these camps. The energy and enthusiasm of the girls and counselors was contagious, and it was evident that God worked in and through Get Connected! Camp in Zambia to build and grow relationships and bring these girls even closer to Him! |

Girls connected with a different truth from God’s Word each morning, and were able to spend time in small groups discussing the application of each day’s focus. Mixed between these important breakout sessions were plenty of opportunities for worship and activities including volleyball, crafts, drama, and creative movement. The final day of camp ended with talent show and each church presented a song, dance, or drama to the rest of the group. As girls danced, sang, and cheered for one another, the bonds they had formed were evident. By the end, many girls were in tears and all were reluctant to leave. Please pray that God will continue to use the seeds planted at Get Connected! Camp to shape these girls into the women of faith He would have them be. |
