The 2012 GEMS Girls’ Clubs Annual Counselors’ Leadership Conference will officially begin with dinner on Thursday, July 12 at 5:00pm and will end on Sunday morning, July 15 following the Sunday bible studies and morning worship service. Here are a few of the highlights the Conference weekend holds for you:

 

THURSDAY
Optional, Pre-Conference Tours
Want a taste of the local flavor in Chicago, Illinois? There are five pre-conference tour options available on Thursday, including a service project option! The tours will depart Thursday morning, so if you wish to participate you should plan to arrive on Wednesday evening. See page 5 for more details.

Women's Night of Worship
What does it mean to experience real communion with God? This special night of worship will begin with communion and real worship—authentic, genuine communion with the God of the universe—our Father who loves us beyond what we can ever imagine.

FRIDAY
Theme Night Experience: Annual Theme Presentation
A Three-Part Theme Experience!
o Part One on Friday afternoon: The Invisible Fight: We will learn to understand the battle that rages around us and equip ourselves for the fight.
o Part Two on Friday evening: Annual Theme Message: Prior to experiencing the theme presentation you will receive the tools to fight for right thinking.
o Part Three following the Theme Message: Annual Theme Presentation Think Right: Win the Fight! You're invited to a slumber party! This year's theme venue is playful yet powerful. Come join Grandma and the girls as they move from a pillow fight to understanding that there is A Big Fight going on for their minds. This engaging venue teaches girls and counselors to fight against stinkin thinkin by setting their minds on what is pleasing to God—on whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on such things (Philippians 4:8). Come pumped up for a party that will help you win the fight for right thinking!

SATURDAY
Windy City Cuisine and Comedy Night!
Chicago is known for many things, but two of them are its food and comedy. We can't think of a better way to spend the night than to indulge in some great Chicago-style foods including their famous italian beef, Chicago-style hotdogs, and pasta. And, a Chicago-style menu wouldn't be complete without offering their world-famous deep-dish pizza! Following a tasty dinner we'll enjoy a relaxed time of fellowship as the River City Improv comedy group entertains us. You are certain to relax and enjoy this special night as you experience Chicago-style food and fun!

Whispers of God Prayer Groups
On Saturday and Sunday morning you will have the opportunity to join other Conference attendees in the Whispers of God prayer groups. Coffee will be available as you join in a time of corporate prayer.

SUNDAY
Personal Reflection Time & Closing Worship
The Conference is packed with challenges. Before we leave we invite you to intentionally take time to reflect on the weekend and all the information you will receive. A time of personal reflection and meditation has been scheduled prior to the closing worship service. The closing worship service will begin at 9:30am and Conference will conclude by 11:30am.


Special Receptions and Opportunities

Every Meal–Solo Traveler Networking Opportunity
If you are traveling alone and looking to connect and network with other solo travelers, join us for all meals at specially marked locations within the dining hall. Tables will be marked for you to find and visit with one another.

First Time Conference Attendee and Solo Travelers: Be Our Guest!
Never been to a GEMS Conference before or coming to the Conference alone? We encourage you to attend this reception in your honor on Thursday evening at 9:00pm following our Women's Night of Worship. We want you to feel welcome and comfortable right from the beginning! So, if you are uncertain about what to expect at Conference and would like more information, this special reception is a MUST ATTEND!

Your Opportunity to Participate in Worship!
If you enjoy raising your voice in praise before the Lord, then why not be a part of the Women of Worship? Simply check the box on your registration form to indicate your interest AND list this workshop as your number one choice! Rehearsal for the Women of Worship will be during the Friday afternoon workshop. The Women of Worship team will join Colleen and Grace in singing during the Sunday morning general session.

Zambian Sister Club Dinner
If you are currently a member of a club that is sponsoring a Sister Club in Zambia, you are invited to come to a special dinner on Friday and meet with GEMS Sister Club Coordinator, Kathy Brace. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more and ask questions.

Saturday–Club Coordinator Breakfast
An opportunity to mingle and share ideas with one another will be the focus of this Club Coordinator breakfast and fellowship time. All Club Coordinators, both new and seasoned, are encouraged to join us. If the Club Coordinator from your club is unable to attend Conference, please select one counselor to attend this breakfast.

THANK YOU to Leadership Trainers and Area Coordinators! Come to Lunch!
Saturday's lunch hour will feature a special time to celebrate our Area Coordinators and Leadership Trainers—leaders in the ACTS Program, Area Counselor Training and support. All ACs and LTs are invited to share a meal, the highlights of their year, and plans for the coming season.

Area Dinner!
A special time of fellowship is scheduled for the Windy City Cuisine and comedy night when ACTS areas will be seated together for dinner.
