Have you ever wondered how the flour you use for your breads, cookies, and cakes is made? At the famous Mill City Museum you’ll learn how power is generated from the Mighty Mississippi at the Water Lab, play with dough and nibble on treats at the Baking Lab, and board the eight story Flour Tower. The Mill City Museum tells stories from the 1880’s – 1930’swhen Minneapolis was the flour milling capital of the country. The story of flour milling – and its impact on propelling Minneapolis into one of the great cities in the world - comes to life through this eight story flour tour and other hands-on exhibits. We’ll also take a Step-On guided riverfront bus tour and explore the historic Minneapolis Mississippi riverfront district. Rounding out the tour will include a walk next door to the Guthrie Theater for a guided backstage tour of this architecturally stunning building.
