Iris Folding:

Apples and Dip

Apples and Dip

1. What you do:

Draw three-leaf clover on your solid green piece of cardstock; make sure the diameter is no bigger than 4 1/2 inches across. Then, cut it out without disturbing the outline of the clover. You will use this as the outline of your design.

2. What you do:

Cut 9 strips (2 inches x 6 inches) out of each of the four patterned papers (making 36 strips total). You can use a paper trimmer if available, or you can cut them with scissors. Then, fold them in half the short way (like a hotdog).

3. What you do:

Print and cut out THIS IRIS FOLDING TEMPLATE and paste it to the front side of your clover card-stock, covering the hole. You should be able to see the colored side of the template through the hole when turning it over.

4. What you do:

Notice the different colors on the template. Decide which color goes with each different pattern of stips you cut out. Then, begin with one color and lay a strip on top of its designated section and tape it to the cardstock, not the template.

5. What you do:

Move on to the next color on the template, using a different patterned strip to cover the outmost section of the area. Continue to layer your strips in the same order that you started, moving in a circle.

6. What you do:

Once all of your sections are covered with a strip, you can cover the center of your template. Take the initial clover cut out and tape it onto your design to cover up the hole. Then, turn your masterpiece over and carefully remove the temolate to reveal the final product. Cut off extra paper from the outside edges.
