One never would think a cat and a mouse
could become the best of friends.
But Diddle and Doodle loved with more oodles
than a thousand times one hundred ten!

Diddle the cat and Doodle the mouse
played and had such fun.
Doodle jumped rope with Diddle’s big tail
then up on his head he did run.

Diddle stood up and balanced him there
a mouse upon his head.
Like a big show the cat stood on one toe
and did flips off the bed!

When dinnertime came, Diddle the cat
licked his furry chops.
His tummy was rumbly and terribly hungry
at his feet Doodle did flop.

But Diddle did not grab the salt to
season his mousy chum
They ordered crisscross pizza and sauce
and dessert of the sweetest plums.

One never would think a cat and a mouse

But sometimes love is bigger than thoughts
and love always wins in the end.
