Real or a Look-A-Like

MONARCHS eat milkweed. Eating the milkweed makes the monarch caterpillar and butterfly toxic to predators (a predator is an animal that eats another animal). This means monarchs are poisonous to eat. The bright colors on a monarch warn predators to stay away. The monarch’s bright colors and patterns keep them safe!

THE LOOK-A-LIKE
A viceroy (say it: vice-roy) is another type of butterfly. A viceroy butterfly looks almost exactly like a monarch butterfly. Because viceroys look so much like monarchs, predators leave them alone too.

THINK ABOUT IT…
It would be easy to mistake a viceroy for a monarch. They look so much alike! Viceroys easily blend in with monarchs.

God calls Christians to stand out. He doesn’t want us to blend in with everyone else. Think about yourself. Are you a Christian? Do you think you stand out as someone who follows Christ? Or do you think you blend in with the rest of the world? Explain your answer.
