"Girls! It's time to go!" Caroline's mom shouted from inside the van. It was time for swimming lessons. Every week Caroline and Malia went together. Walking onto the steamy pool deck, the girls carried their brightly colored towels to the Angel Fish bench. They were good swimmers, better than the Minnow group but not quite ready to be a Swordfish or a Dolphon. "Today we're going to practice holding our breath, kicking, and swimming from one side of the pool to the other, "instructor Amy said, "Everybody in the water!" Malia and Caroline jumped into the pool. If felt like bath water! "OK everyone, grab the side of the pool. We're going to start with our kicking." Instructor Amy hopped into the pool with them. Water began splashing everywhere as all of the girls began kicking as hard as they could. "Great job, Malia! You win the best kicks for today's class," said instructor Amy. A huge smile spread across Malia's face. Caroline was proud of her friend, but a small part of her wished she could be the best kicker. |
