GEMS International

Since 2005 God has been using GEMS to reach women and girls in Zambia. But the requests for curriculum in other areas of the world have been both persistent and urgent. After prayerfully considering ways to respond to this need, revisions were made to the curriculum written for our Zambian clubs to meet the needs of developing and underprivileged communities around the world.

GEMS International, the newest facet of the overall GEMS ministry, will speak into the lives of girls who have limited educational opportunities and fewer financial resources. Our hope is that the curriculum that has been developed will spread Christ’s grace and truth even further and bring women and girls around the world into a living, dynamic relationship with Him.

Hand 'n Hand

Hand ‘n Hand, GEMS micro-financing program that unites women and girls in Zambia with clubs across North America, will be back again this fall! Handcrafted goods from clubs in Zambia can be sold in October with shipments received by Christmas. The proceeds help Zambian clubs become self-sustaining while supporting the growth of the local clubs in the United States and Canada.

This year additional timeframes for selling will also be available to better meet the needs of all of our participating clubs!

Annual Theme

Get Wisdom—Go Beyond the Gold!

Our culture often favors girls gone wild over girls gone wise. Studies indicate there is little difference between how Christians make major decisions and choose to live day-to-day when compared to secular society.

It’s time for God’s girls to get some wisdom!

Wisdom comes with understanding what it means to fear God. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10).

Girls of wisdom go for God’s W! They’d rather have Wisdom than wealth, being well-liked, well-known, or any other wonderful thing on their wish list. How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver (Proverbs 16:16)!

Girls of wisdom walk the highway of right living by examining and measuring their choices to the wisdom found in the book of Proverbs. The highway of the upright avoids evil; he (she) who guards his (her) way guards his (her) life (Proverbs 16:17).

This year we will study the book of Proverbs and learn what it means to fear God and get wisdom!

Making Life Work

Journey with your counselor team through the book of Proverbs with guidance from pastor and author, Bill Hybels. Bill helps unpack the timeless wisdom of Proverbs and shows the meaningful impact they can have on our everyday lives. Gain insights on making wise choices related to everything from friendships and marriage to finances, work, and decision-making. This book study will be a great way to deepen the relationships with all the women serving as counselors in your club, but it is a valuable resource to read on your own, too!

We recommend reading 2-3 chapters in the book of Proverbs with each chapter of Bill's teaching.
