Program Levels

Girls in first through eighth grades can participate in club, but GEMS has materials for girls as young as pre-school and as old as high school. You can pick and choose which ages and options work best for you and your ministry!

Awareness LevelAwareness Level (Grades 1-3)
They may be young, but girls in first through third grade have an amazing ability to grasp God’s call on their lives.

To show them what it means to be world-changers, GEMS offers five different Activity Books for you to choose from. Each book has ten Scripture-based lessons as well as a fun manipulative to fully engage every ounce of passion and energy you’ll find in your youngest GEMS.

You can mix and match the book(s) that work for your club. Choose from God's Kids, Hearts Reaching Up to God, Hearts Reaching Out to Others, Women of Faith, and Clothes Designed by Jesus. Each Activity Book has a Counselor Helps that guides women in teaching the lessons.

In addition, Awareness Level GEMS love receiving Sparkle Magazine each month (October-March). Every issue of this full-color publication contains an additional Bible lesson for you to teach as well as theme-related stories, activities, crafts, and games for girls to explore on their own!

Finally, the Awareness Place Badges are a great resource to get girls ready for the next step in club life. These six lessons introduce the concept of earning badges—something they will do more regularly as they graduate to the next level of GEMS.

  Discovery Level (Grades 4-6)

Curious, enthusiastic, and excited to learn, girls in fourth through sixth grades are eager to dive in and be activists for Christ.

To help them discover how they can best do that, the Discovery Place Badge Book offers 100 different badges for girls to earn. They will delve deeper into their faiths and learn about their unique, God-given designs. Every badge helps girls explore their talents, gifts, and interests while developing a broader, more relevant view of the world.

While badges are essential to showing girls how to live radically faithful lives for Christ, the Bible lessons for this level are contained in SHINE brightly Magazine. Eight of the nine issues (published September-May) contain three theme-focused Bible lessons for you to guide girls through at club. Girls love reading every word of this exciting, full-color magazine that contains motivational articles, games, crafts, stories from readers, a Dear Lizzy column, and more!

Seventh and eighth graders definitely don’t want to be classified as kids, but they’re often not ready to be full-blown teenagers yet, either. The Advanced Level of GEMS is uniquely designed to encourage growth and foster self-esteem as these girls transition from childhood into their teen years.

In small groups, girls have a safe place to share their feelings, concerns, frustrations, and questions.

Esther - True Beauty for such a time as this is a Christian charm course based on the book of Esther. It is designed to empower today's generation of girls to live set-apart, remarkably beautiful lives—inside and out.

MTN is another choice for your seventh and eighth graders. This devotional seeks to guide Advanced Level girls up the mountain of the LORD—growing closer to God by understanding more about who He is. Girls will study 24 of God's names—learning what it means that God is their heavenly Father, compassionate Healer, and devoted Friend.

Getting Dusty is another great option for your junior high girls. Each of the 24 Talk Sheets will help them navigate the tough issues they face every day in ways that honor God.

Counselor Helps are available for each curriculum, offering counselors opening activities, service project ideas, discussion starters, answers to questions, and everything else needed to actively engage girls in each lesson.

  Kingdom Kids (4 & 5 Year Olds)

Introduce four and five year olds to club life through this coed curriculum published by GEMS and Cadets for boys. Build a firm faith foundation and teach these active little ones who God is and what it means to follow Him. Using a learning center approach, Kingdom Kids allows children to move to different activity areas and is great for churches with family-night ministries or MOPS programs, as well as homeschool and other settings.

Kingdom Kids provides two years of programming, and while the second year builds on the first, each can also be used as a stand-alone curriculum.

Kingdom KidsCIT (High School)
Typically offered to girls in ninth through twelfth grades, the Counselor-in-Training program allows girls who have completed the various levels of GEMS to continue on in the ministry and develop strong leadership skills. CITs use a manual that helps them explore their personality and take inventory of their specific talents and gifts. Each CIT is partnered with a mentor who helps her apply her skills in a unique and fitting way at club while modeling what it means to be a servant leader.
