Being an Activist

activism

Activism is direct action in support of a cause.

Jesus was an activist.
He cared about people.
He fed people who were hungry.
He healed people who were hurting.
He befriended people the rest of the world shunned.
He met their needs while bringing His message of hope.

Jesus took direct action to help ease people's physical and emotional suffering. Being an activist for Christ means constantly reshaping our lives to look more like His, it means caring about injustice in the world, and it means selflessly serving the needs of others.

Here's a look at how GEMS Clubs and various individuals are working as activists for Christ in response to The Call to Africa:

San Diego Christian Reformed Church

In Southern California, GEMS from San Diego Christian Reformed Church set up a face-painting booth at a rally. “The girls had fun and were thrilled to learn that we are helping our sisters in Africa,” reported Elisabeth Barnhill, Club Coordinator.
