The Right Person to Follow

Monday, April 15th, 2013

Do you have a hard time knowing which group of friends to hang out with? What type of crowd should you  spend most of your time with? You might feel like the choice is obvious, right? I mean… you’re conscience is telling you not to spend so much time with your friends who are skipping class, sharing rumors, or making fun of the girl who wears last years fashions. But you justify your actions–they are fun to be around, you laugh a lot, and you feel like they have your back.

This is a slippery slope. Sometimes peer pressure can look you straight in the eye (like when someone asks you to do something you know is wrong) but other times it can sneak up on you.

So how do you know the right crowd to be in? Who is the right person to follow? Before you can begin to know the answer to those questions, you have to get to know the ultimate leader! Jesus will always walk down the right path, and Jesus will always have your back. When you know Him, you are able to make wise decisions about who you should spend the rest of your time with.

Follow the One, true Leader and you will always know which path to take!

I want to share this super cool song all about letting Jesus lead you. Oh, and it’s by this pretty cool girl, Jamie Grace–have you heard of her?

Life Changing Lies

Friday, February 8th, 2013

Hey girls!

Have you seen the harmful effects of gossip in your friend group, school, or family? It can really tear up relationships!

We see an example of the terrible things gossip can do in Acts 6 and 7. Stephen was a prophet who loved God and shared the Good News wherever he went. But when a group of people didn’t like what he was preaching, they started to spread rumors about Stephen. They said that he didn’t believe in the prophets from the Old Testament and that he said bad things about God–none of these things were true! The gossip spread and people from all over the city became furious with Stephen.

One day, a group of people decided to gang up on Stephen. They took him outside the city and threw stones at him. They threw so many stones that Stephan was really hurt. Stephen asked God to not hold what these people were doing against them. Stephen saw a glimpse into Heaven and then died.

Stephen was a martyr–someone who dies because of their faith–all because of gossip. Gossip is that powerful. YIKES!

Check out this video for a visual of Stephen’s story.
